Riparian Habitat

A Riparian habitat is the area surrounding a body of moving water.  They improve water quality by catching excess sediment, as well as filtering pollutants from runoff.  Riparian habitats are important for migration, as well as biodiversity because they support a large variety of plants.

Red Wolf Sanctuary has many areas of Riparian habitat.  Our property is bordered by Arnold's Creek to the east.

We host a variety of wildlife in our Riparian habitats, including Great Blue Herons, Green Herons, Bald Eagles, Opossums, White Tail Deer, Otter, and Beaver!
