OUR ANIMALS

Red Wolf Sanctuary is home to a variety of native, North American species.  The animals that live at the Sanctuary are permanent residents due to previous human interaction or life-altering injuries.

Many of our animals have been rescued from unfortunate circumstances that were dangerous to their health and well-being, as well as the safety of those who were creating those circumstances.

While ever changing, the permanent residents of the Sanctuary currently include:

  • 7 grey wolves (Canis lupus)

  • 9 coyotes (Canis latrans)

  • 17 red foxes (Vulpes vulpes)

  • 1 arctic fox (Vulpes lagopus)

  • 4 bobcats (Lynx rufus)

  • 1 elk (Cervus canadensis)

  • 3 black bears (Ursus americanus)

  • 1 striped skunk (Mephitis mephitis)

  • 2 opossums (Didelphis virginiana)

  • Various raptors

The Sanctuary also rehabs hundreds of animals every year, from sick and injured individuals to orphaned babies.

If you have come across wildlife who need help, please give us a call!  (812) 438-2306

Please call us before attempting to handle any wildlife, even babies.  Often times a baby appears to be abandoned when they really aren't.  This leads to many babies being taken from the wild when they don't need rescued.
